Loose Tea with Ribwort Plantain

Ribwort plantain is found widely throughout Europe. The yellowish herb is very frugal and grows on roadsides, meadows, fields, rubble piles and everywhere else where it is left alone. Ribwort tea is a well-known household remedy for treating coughs and hoarseness. In addition to ribwort, our relax tea also contains relaxing herbs such as peppermint, sage and lemon balm. Why not give it a try?

Ribwort plantain: effect of the herb

Among other things, ribwort plantain contains vitamin C, some B vitamins and minerals such as silicic acid, potassium and zinc. In addition, ribwort is full of mucilage, bitter substances and tannins. The mucilages in particular are helpful against the annoying scratchy throat, as they can soothe the mucous membranes. Vitamin C is known to strengthen the immune system and thus helps fight all kinds of physical problems.

The leaves, flower spikes, roots and seeds of ribwort plantain can all be used. For fresh ribwort tea, you often just take the leaves, pour boiling water over them and let them steep for about ten minutes. Since ribwort has a relatively bitter taste when pure, which may also remind you a little of mushrooms, we recommend adding a little honey. This not only sweetens the taste, but is also antibacterial. However, let the water cool down a little beforehand, otherwise the antibacterial effect will be lost. Enjoy.
