Thyme Health Benefits

Thyme is not only a delicious spice, but also a well-known household remedy for colds of all kinds as thyme tea. This is because thyme is full of essential oils, tannins and flavonoids. It contains the substances thymol and carvacrol and can have an antispasmodic effect on the bronchial tubes. The oils help to loosen mucus and the thymol relaxes the muscles in the bronchial tubes. For the same reasons, thyme tea is also recommended in traditional medicine for asthma.

To get the full benefit of thyme tea, it is recommended to drink the first cup at the first sign of a cold and then repeat this several times a day. But of course you don't have to have a cold to enjoy a fresh hot cup of thyme tea. It tastes at least as good when healthy. Cheers.
