Is Pineapple Healthy?
Pineapple is a special fruit. Similar to strawberries, it is not actually a single fruit, but a collection of many small berries that grow together as they develop. As a fruit, it contains very few calories and no proteins, but a lot of vitamin C, B1, B2, B6 and vitamin E. It has a lot of potassium and other minerals. Besides a lot of potassium, it has other minerals and trace elements in store.
Something that distinguishes pineapple from other fruits and makes it unique is the so-called bromelain. This ingredient can break down proteins in the body. This aids digestion. Contrary to popular belief, however, it does not help to consume raw amounts of pineapple during a diet. This is because bromelain leaves fat alone. On the contrary, the substance ensures that all protein in the food is broken down.
Pineapple pieces as a tea ingredient are mainly for flavour. The bromelain is immediately destroyed by heating. You can use this as a trick if you want to enjoy pineapple during a diet - simply dip the pineapple pieces briefly in boiling water. Enjoy.
